Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland spot kick goal was not enough to hand Norway a win against Scotland in Group A European Championship 2024 qualifier at the weekend.

Scotland overcame going down a goal to Erling Haaland’s penalty to steal a 2-1 victory over Norway in their Group A European Championship 2024 qualification. Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean both scored late goals.

The victory increased the Scots’ lead over Spain, who are in second place and have played one fewer game, to nine points, or six. On one point, Norway is fourth.

Despite having the majority of the ball, Norway had trouble producing many quality chances. However, Haaland, who just last week helped Manchester City win the Champions League, saved the day when Ryan Porteous tripped him in the area at the 61st minute.

The enormous Norwegian sprang up, picked himself up, and shot the ball low to the goalkeeper’s right, setting off wild celebrations at the Ullevaal Stadium.

Haaland was substituted by coach Stale Solbakken in the 84th minute with the goal seemingly putting his team on the winning track. It was to be a costly error.

Three minutes before the conclusion of regulation, Leo Ostigard made a mistake in defense that allowed Scotland’s striker Dykes to tuck home the equalizer. Two minutes later, Scotland’s substitute McLean scored the game-winning goal to quiet the home crowd.
