THE Chairman of Ardo Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State, Salihu Dovo, was found dead in a bush shortly after he was abducted by unknown gunmen on Sunday.

The armed men were said to have stormed Dovo’s Sabon Gari residence at about 1 am on Sunday.

They were said to have whisked him away and later called an official of the Local Government Council to go and get his corpse from the bush.

Dovo’s corpse was dumped in Nahuta village, across the River Lamurde boundary, it was learnt.

A nephew of the Council boss, Timothy Aminu, was also killed by the gunmen when he reportedly tried to block the roads to prevent the abduction of his uncle.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP David Misal, confirmed the incident.

It was not clear whether it was an assassination case, particularly because the kidnappers did not call for any ransom, but the Police have launched an investigation into circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.

“We have arrested some suspects and we will make sure the killers of the council boss and his nephew are brought to book,” the PPRO said.

The remains of the council boss and his nephew have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre Mortuary, Jalingo.
