GUNMEN, on Wednesday, attacked the convoy of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, injuring him and killing his orderly.
The AIG and another officer, who has yet to be identified, survived the attack.
They were reportedly on their way to the monthly conference of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, and senior police officers from the rank of commissioners of police, in Abuja.
The AIG was said to have escaped with gunshot injuries and is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Security personnel have been drafted to the area to comb the bushes in a bid to apprehend the terrorists, it was learnt.
The incident was said to have occured between Barde and Jagindi, in Kaduna State on Tuesday afternoon.
