Government urges parents to release children as schools record low turnout

The Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Ibukun Fadipe has called on parents and guardians to release their children and ward for school.

Checks by The Point showed that there is low turnout of students and pupils in some public schools in the state.

Fadipe also urged teachers to show more commitment to duty in a bid to move Osun educational system to greater height.

The SUBEB chairman gave the charge while on a monitoring exercise for the resumption of the 2024/2025 academic calendar in the state.

He visited some schools in Osogbo including Christ Africa Church School, Gbodofan, Union Baptist Primary School, Odi Olowo, Christ Apostolic Church, Araromi, Model Smart School and Anthony Udofia Primary School, Oke-fia among others in the state.

During the inspection exercise, Fadipe addressed learners as well as teachers on ground to perform their duties judiciously and advised learners on the need to take education very seriously.

While asking parents to ensure their children resume school for the new session, he implored teachers to intensify their efforts on their learners’ reading and writing skills in order to produce vibrant future leaders.
