The Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Haddi Ametuo, has berated Governor Yahaya Bello over his recent alleged expulsion from the ruling party by its North Central Zone.

Ametuo described his alleged expulsion from the party by its leadership in the North Central as fraudulent and criminal, alleging that the plot was orchestrated by Governor Bello.

The embattled chairman, who stated this in a chat with our correspondent, said Bello and his cohorts engineered his alleged expulsion in a bid to frustrate his political career.

The leadership of the APC in the North-Central had, over the weekend, announced the removal of the Kogi State chairman and 38 others at the local government level, following the outcome of a report on investigations into the activities of the officers, accusing them of working against the interest and progress of the party in the state.

But in his reaction, Ametuo said, “That was a fraudulent and criminal activity orchestrated by Yahaya Bello and his people.

“Call the North-Central national vice chairman of the party to give you the true picture of the issue. Confirm from him. If he truly issued any press release on such issue, then you can call me back.”

When contacted, the North-Central National Vice-Chairman, APC, Alhaji Zakare Ede, who was discreet over the matter, directed our correspondent to the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for comments, saying, “The publicity secretary is the party’s national voice.”

Abdullahi, however, told our correspondent, “The officers are still recognised in their various capacities. The National Working Committee of the party did not approve their expulsion.

“They are all still recognised as chairmen. Alhaji Ametuo remains the state chairman, while others, too, are still recognised.”

The Kogi State chapter of the APC has been embroiled in crisis as some officers of the party were accused of openly working against the state government, particularly Governor Bello.

This led to the controversial suspension of the party chairman alongside 38 others.

According to reports, the office of the National Vice-Chairman (North Central) of the party, Zakari Abdullahi Ede, accused Ametuo and 38 others of working against the interest and progress of the party in Kogi State.

The list of the sacked executive officers also includes some local government officers of the party, who were found guilty of working against the interest of the party.
