Liverpool icon Michael Owen and Ghana Technical Advisor, Chris Hughton were on punditry duties for the Premier League international feed for the clash between Brentford and Burnley where Super Eagles star, Frank Onyeka featured.
Hughton, born to an Irish mother and Ghanaian father, is providing technical advice to Ghana’s coaching staff for this month’s 2022 World Cup playoff matches against Nigeria as he used the opportunity to spy on fast rising Onyeka.
The former Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove coach had the opportunity to run the rule over Super Eagles midfielder Onyeka who entered the game as a substitute in the 90th minute.
Onyeka, a holding midfielder, was brought in to shore up the defence as Brentford manager Thomas Frank wanted to protect his side’s narrow lead.
Red-hot striker Ivan Toney nodded home a brilliant delivery from Christian Eriksen to open the scoring with five minutes to go and the number 17 sealed the win when he converted a spot kick in stoppage time. Thus, Brentford earned back-to-back Premier League wins for the very first time after defeating Burnley 2-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium at the weekend.
As a result of the win Brentford eased their relegation fears, going nine points clear of the bottom three with nine matches left to be played.
