Four persons have been killed and two decomposing bodies recovered following the the land tussle that erupted between the people of Umuobor, Akaeze and Ogwor, Ishiagu, both in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The two neighbours have been at war for over five decades over a fertile land known as Elueke with many lives lost and property destroyed.
The land tussle became intractable four months ago with more killings, abductions and destructions.
Last weekend, a truck driver from Imo State who was plying Ishiagu/Okigwe expressway was killed on the Ayaragu axis of the expressway by suspected warlords.
On Tuesday this week, four persons were killed by the warlords.
Two decomposing bodies were also recovered and handed over to the military on peace keeping in Akaeze/Ishiagu expressway.
One of the residents who did not want his name in print alleged that “Just yesterday, a total of 4 persons were killed in Umobor Akaeze. Extra 2 bodies were recovered today and taken to the Army checkpoint in Akaeze.”
“The state government silence and remote actions have continued to achieve more gains with more killings, maiming and abduction of innocent people of Akaeze and Ishiagu communities, and even non-Ebonyi person. We also wish to appreciate our stakeholders for their efforts in keeping the numbers on the increase.
“It is pertinent to appreciate all those who contribute handsomely towards the orchestration of more crisis, for their grave quest. Posterity shall be kind to everyone,” he lamented.
When contacted, the state police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu said he has not received comprehensive report of the incident from Ivo police division.
He, however, said someone from Ivo local government called him and informed him of the incident.
