FirstBank appoints Olusegun Alebiosu as CEO, promotes Ebong, Alao-Olaifa

The Board of FirstBank has announced significant executive appointments appointing Olusegun Alebiosu as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Group; Ini Ebong as Deputy Managing Director; and Alao-Olaifa to become Non-Executive Director.

According to the press statement signed by Folake Ani-Mumuney, Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, these appointments are effective immediately, pending regulatory approval.

Alebiosu has been promoted from Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Group.

Ebong has been appointed the Deputy Managing Director, transitioning from his role as Executive Director of Treasury and International Banking.

Omotunde Alao-Olaifa will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Alebiosu brings over 28 years of extensive experience in banking and financial services, having held various critical roles within FirstBank since joining in 2016.

He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, with multiple degrees including those from the University of Lagos and the London School of Economics.

Ebong, with almost 30 years of banking experience, has played a pivotal role in developing Nigeria’s financial markets and has worked with regulatory bodies to advance monetary and foreign exchange policies.

He holds degrees in Architecture from the University of Ife and has held prominent positions at Citigroup and Renaissance Securities Nigeria Limited before joining FirstBank.

Alao-Olaifa, with significant expertise in corporate finance, currently serves as Group Chief Financial Officer/Strategy & Principal Investment at Leadway Holdings.

He holds degrees from the University of Ibadan and Lagos Business School and has attended executive programs at Harvard Business School and London Business School.

These strategic appointments align with FirstBank’s commitment to maintaining robust leadership and governance, reinforcing its position as a leading financial institution in Nigeria and beyond.
