The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has issued a strong warning to contractors working on the Renewed Hope Housing Projects across the country, requiring strict adherence to quality standards and project schedules.
The warning came during a status review meeting with developers overseeing housing projects in several states.
A statement released in Abuja on Wednesday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Salisu Badamasi Haiba, quoted Dangiwa as emphasizing that the Federal Government will not condone negligence, poor workmanship, or delayed delivery.
“This administration is committed to doing things differently. Do not assume it’s business as usual. It is not. If you signed a contract with the government, you must deliver accordingly,” the minister stated emphatically.
He made it clear that non-performing contractors could face blacklisting, not only from future Ministry projects but also from all Federal Government housing and infrastructure contracts.
In a move to enforce accountability, Dangiwa warned that any substandard structures discovered at construction sites would be demolished, and the responsible contractors would face sanctions.
“We are not just building houses, we are building homes. If you collect government funds, you must deliver results. We will not fold our arms and allow incompetence or bad faith to derail the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
While expressing appreciation for developers who have demonstrated professionalism and commitment, the Minister reaffirmed that the Ministry remains committed to honouring all contractual obligations provided contractors meet agreed-upon standards and deadlines.
In a related development, Dangiwa directed Federal Controllers of Housing in the states to ramp up monitoring and supervision efforts at all sites.
He urged them to provide regular oversight and ensure that construction activities proceed in line with approved specifications.
