The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring regulatory compliance and enhancing business profitability in the petroleum industry through legal metrology.

This was the emphasis of a one-day stakeholders’ sensitization workshop conducted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where major industry participants, government entities, and regulatory organizations gathered to deliberate on optimal practices in measurement precision and adherence.

With the topic “Boosting Business Profits and Customer Loyalty via Legal Metrology Compliance in the Midstream Petroleum Sector,” the workshop highlighted the importance of accurate measurements in fostering fairness, transparency, and adherence to regulations in the midstream oil and gas industry.

During the ceremony, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Nura Abba Rimi, emphasised the importance of legal metrology in the sector.

“Legal metrology ensures fairness in trade, protects consumer interests, and strengthens industry credibility both locally and internationally.

“This workshop is part of our ongoing commitment to promoting accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance in the midstream petroleum sector,” he stated.

The event brought together Weights and Measures officials, business entities, and regulatory agencies to improve compliance in the petroleum midstream sector.

Discussions focused on improving oversight, enforcing regulations, and fostering a culture of adherence to metrology standards.

The Ministry expressed its commitment to ongoing collaboration with industry participants via training initiatives, regulatory updates, and tactical alliances.

It guaranteed participants that it will persist in initiatives to keep Nigeria’s oil industry open, competitive, and in line with global standards.
