The Federal Government has set a deadline of the full compliance of the directive that all revenue due to the government be paid into the treasury single account. The deadline of Tuesday, September 15, 2015 was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina released on Tuesday.
The statement also announced that there would be sanctions for any government body that refused to adhere to the deadline.
On August 7, this year, a circular was sent to all federal government ministries, departments and agencies directing them that all revenue due to the federal government should be paid into the treasury single account or designated accounts maintained and operated in the Central Bank of Nigeria unless otherwise approved.
The statement by Adesina noted that some government bodies had not complied with this directive necessitating another circular by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi; this time setting a deadline for compliance.
“In this regard, His Excellency, Mr. President, has directed that all MDAs are to comply with the instructions on the Treasury Single Account unfailingly by Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
“Heads of MDAs and other arms of Government are enjoined to give this circular the widest circulation and ensure strict compliance to avoid sanctions,” Mr. Kifasi said in the circular.
