Fashion to Niniola Apata, singer and song writer, is an art of expressing oneself through clothing, hairstyle, foot wears, jewelries and the like. Popularly known by her stage name, Niniola, she rose to recognition in 2013 after she placed third runner-up at the Project Fame West Africa Season 6. Upon the release of her breakthrough debut single, “Ibadi,” she was nominated in the “Most Promising Act to Watch” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The easy going, God-fearing and free-spirited young lady, fell in love with music right from when she was a kid. During her high school days, she regularly sang to her classmates. She was able to do this because of her large repertoire of songs and clear vocals, a reason she was then tagged, “the human radio.”
In a brief chat with The Point, Niniola said fashion meant a lot to her, which explains why her wardrobe is filled with accessories like neckpieces, earrings, and fashion basics like denim tops shirts, among others. “I love to wear cute yet comfortable clothing and shoes, especially when I am on stage performing. Fashion should be fun and should not be a do-or-die situation. In that, you should wear clothes that suits you and feels comfortable as opposed to just going with the trends, no matter what.”
Niniola believes that one should not be careless with his/her body. She advocates the need to keep fit. She said, “To keep fit, I ensure that I drink a lot of water, watch my calorie intake and do my dance workout programs.” A native of Ekiti state, Niniola was raised in Lagos and is an alumna of University of Lagos.
