Yolande Okereke is fast getting a reputation as the celebrity stylist of the season because she pulls impeccable pieces together for celebrities on the red carpet. In her late 20s, Yolanda Okereke, a graduate of Chemical Engineering, has turned out as one of the country’s most sought stylists.
Sharing her views on fashion, Yolanda says fashion is a way of expressing who you are and how you feel because most times your mood affects your fashion choices and it influences trends. Asked about her style, Yolanda said that she loves western wears a lot because she feels most comfortable in them. “Jeans and tee-shirts or tank tops are good for me. I love white a lot; half of my wardrobe is white. But I am trying to bring out black. When it comes to shoes, from high street to designers, I have all sorts of them in my walk-in-closet. I also have a thing for designer bags.”
The dark skinned beauty disclosed that she is not a skincare person, but she is loyal to clean and clear exfoliating body soap, which is gentle on her skin. Yolanda also loves keeping fit; this she does mostly by walking around dutifully on a daily basis.
Since she began in 2009 with Monalisa Chinda and Djinee, the number of her clients has been on a steady increase. Her clientele includes Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Nse Ikpe-Etim, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Desmond Elliot and many other celebrities.
Rani, as she is fondly called, is arguably the only stylist with the biggest impact in Nollywood, having designed for and costumed movies including Rita Dominic’s The Meeting, Ashionye Raccah’s Journey to Self, Emem Isong’s Weekend Getaway, and Monalisa Chinda’s 2010 series, Catwalk, among others.
