Ex-militants in the Niger Delta Region have given ultimatum to the Imo state Government to prepare and forward their lists to the National Security Adviser to the Presidency for inclusion in the overseas training and retraining scheme under the Amnesty programme or risk protests in the state.
The group threatened not spare anyone if the state government refused to grant their requests and pay them their stipends.
The group’s leader, Commander Uzoma Chukwuka Boby gave this warning while addressing news men in the creeks in Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta Local Government Areas of the state.
The angry camp commander accused the state government of insincerity and double standard on the amnesty training programme of the Niger Delta region.
Boby noted that the Imo government tricked them into laying down their arms in the presence of security agents led by Captain T.C Okoh, the then Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze in the state, like their counterparts in Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo, Delta.
According to him, “We complied with the instruction for onward inclusion for the training programme, but till now, nothing has been done to that effect.”
