The President of the Nigeria Rollers Sport Federation, Comrade Joseph Evah, has reassured roller skaters of his commitment at developing the sport in the country.
He also charged corporate Nigeria to come forward and support the fast rising sport in terms of sponsorship.
Evah revealed this in his speech during the presentation and award of cash gifts to Team Nigeria skaters who excelled during the African Skating Championship which took place in Lome, Togo in December 2017.
The Nigerian athletes won a total of five medals comprising one silver and four bronze medals.
Evah fulfilled the promise at the National Stadium Complex in Surulere Lagos, during a reception held for the contingents.
”It was a promise which I made before the team left Nigeria for the championship and I am duty bound to fulfill my promise, because a promise is a debt,” Evah stated before splashing cash incentives to the deserving athletes.
He also thanked parents of the athletes for the support and encouragement they gave to their children in the game and reassured them that their children would someday bring glory to the nation through skating.
Athletes who benefited from the magnanimity of Evah are silver medalist Samuel Iganga (N150, 000), Chidindu Vitalis who won two bronze medals (N200,000), Olawale Ibrahim who won one bronze medal (N100,000), Abusodiq Abdulrasheed another bronze medalist (N100,000) and Tunde Ishola who also bagged a bronze medal (N100,000).
Evah also assured all those who were part of the team but did not win any medal that they shall all get a cash gift of N30, 000.
