South West Elders Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has insisted that the just-concluded general elections held in the country were fraught with screaming flaws, deliberate sabotage, treachery and outright banditry.
Rising from its meeting in Lagos , Tuesday , the Caucus said the present electoral processes wherein results sheets are physically carried across the nation are absolutely primitive and apparently susceptible to all kinds of distortions.
The communique of the meeting read by Prince Uthman Shodipe-Dosunmu also supported wholeheartedly the decision of the PDP to seek Justice in the court of law rather than withdrawing into shell of cowardice on the last presidential election.
The Caucus also enjoined the PDP leadership to start rebuilding the broken places and to start rectifying the wrongs so as to heal the still festering sores.
The communique further said: ” We note with great annoyance the mischievous intervention of the PDP National organ as they impose fly – by night candidates on the states thereby providing electoral failure and rank disasters.
” We insist that we will never again tolerate the interference of outsiders in the affairs of the South West.
” We urged the leadership to return to the First principle of fairness, equity and Justice. The party must embrace men and women of selflessness and instinctive sacrifice rather than encourage little people who merely serve the hour.
Those that attended the meeting include, former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Olabode George, former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebeneezer Babatope, former Minister of Mines and Power, Elder Wole Oyelese, Mrs Dupe Adelaja, Elder Biodun Ejemai, Engr.
