Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has freezed his personal account with Zenith Bank Plc.
Fayose said this in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Monday.
The Point gathered that his allegation followed his inability to operate the account when he personally visited the bank.
Speaking with newsmen in the state, the governor said that officials of the bank told him that an embargo had been placed on his account.
Fayose had been having a running battle with the EFCC over the funding of his governorship campaign in 2014.
There had been accusations that the campaign was funded with funds from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Meanwhile, Fayose had denied this, claiming his campaign funds were generated from the ordinary people who wanted him in power.
The Point’s effort to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the allegation by the governor was not successful as several calls put through to the spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, were not answered.
