Following the ongoing investigation of alleged financial impropriety on procurements of official cars for the Oyo State House of Assembly lawmakers by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, a credible government source has disclosed that the anti graft Commission has frozen the bank account of the state Assembly.
The Point recalls that the EFCC opened its investigation against the House regarding procurements of official cars for members of the state House of Assembly on the account of the alleged sharp practices that trailed the transaction.
Some of the official cars were said to have developed mechanical faults less than six months after the delivery.
However, the House insisted that it followed due process and had nothing to hide regarding the said car procurement contract.
The Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, in a reaction to the allegation, said the House would continue to support the EFCC and all government institutions to deepen transparency, accountability, and democracy.
An unconfirmed source disclosed that the EFCC was widening its investigative net on issues relating to the financial dealings of the House, including constituency allocation, running costs and others.
The source further stated that it was for the purpose of widening its investigative scope that the anti graft agency froze the Assembly’s account.
It was gathered that the EFCC invited some top officials of the House for questioning in the early hours of July 26.
