THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, for allegedly misappropriating funds to the tune of N7.9 billion.

Okorocha, who had raised the alarm several times that he was being unduly witch-hunted by Governor Hope Uzodinma and the Commission, was arrested at his private office in Garki District of Abuja on Tuesday.

The EFCC had been investigating Okorocha, who represents Imo West Senatorial District in the current National Assembly, since 2019.

The Commission had earlier said it traced about N7.9 billion to him in different bank accounts and had also linked a number of choice properties to the former Governor across the country.

Sources said he might be immediately charged to court.

Spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest but could not however give the details.
