EDS Ukraine Power and Engineering has offered to generate 350-500 megawatts of renewable energy in Nigeria’s solar and wind technology.

According to EDS Ukraine, they aim to transform Nigeria into a power-efficient country.

The Director of EDS Ukraine Power and Engineering, Olexandr Zapyshnyi, stated this in Abuja at a media briefing organised by the Ukraine-Nigeria Business Council to present the firm to Nigeria’s government.

According to him, the company was generating about 40 megawatts in Ukraine and is showing interest in investing in Nigeria.

Zapyshnyi, accompanied by the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine, Davyd Hohiia and the Head of the Nigerian Office, Ukrainian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Olena Nedryhailo, said the company had been working in different fields of renewable energy and thermal energy for 15 years and remained operational in Ukraine despite the ongoing war with Russia.

The President of the Ukraine-Nigeria Business Council, Ben Gbade-Ojo, who attributed Nigeria’s industrial and economic challenge majorly to poor electrical power supply, said EDS should be commended for starting its African investment and rollout of technology and expertise in Nigeria.

He said the firm planned to immediately initiate its enterprise in the FCT and Lagos, with other states following.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian-Nigerian Business Council also urged the Federal Government to conduct a comprehensive audit of all power infrastructure assets in the country to ensure improvement in power supply.
