…Conduct Stop and Search on vehicles
AHEAD of the Saturday, September 19 Governorship Election in Edo State, security agencies have taken their operations to some hotels across the state over alleged information that some imported thugs have arrived the state.
The operatives of the Army, Police, Civil Defence and Department of State Services, are also occupying some strategic areas, especially in Benin City and Auchi, to carry out their anti-violence operations.
The combined team is visible on some major roads, especially roads linking Auchi, Agbor, Warri, Gelegele and Abraka.
Inside sources told The Point that a few persons were arrested in a hotel in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, adding that the combing of all flash points was ongoing.
The sources also said that all boundaries with Edo State would be officially shut at 12 midnight on Thursday.
There was serious traffic lock on some major roads across the state, following the Stop and Search conducted on vehicles by the security agencies in the search for possible imported arms and thugs.
Security personnel attached to VIPs are wearing identification tags indicating that, while the FIB are on standby for possible emergency.
