MEMBERS of the Nigerian Bar Association, Onueke branch, in Ebonyi State, have expressed sadness over the death of one of them in an inferno.

The deceased, Barr. Nwangwu Chinedu, who is in his late 30s, was full of life last week Thursday before he met his untimely death in an accident in front of Onueke motor park, Ezza South axis.

He was said to have been waiting to get a vehicle back home after the day’s work.

A lorry belonging to Nigerian Breweries, fully loaded with alcoholic beverages, was said to have lost control and hit a tipper parked at the road side loaded with sand, which reportedly went up in flames.

The fire was said to have burnt the lawyer to death despite the fact that he was not inside or hit by any of the vehicles.

Reacting to the incident in a telephone interview, the NBA Chairman, Onueke Branch, Egba Uchenna, who confirmed the incident, prayed for fortitude, especially for the immediate family to bear the loss.

The branch chairman said they would be paying the immediate family of their deceased colleague a condolence visit.

“We got information about the mishap through one of our members in Onueke branch. He died through a motor accident. We have been able to hear from the family. First of all, we reached out to his principal in chamber who also confirmed the information. As a matter of fact, the branch is going to visit the family this evening,” he said.

“It is a very big shocking ugly news, especially when we heard that sometime in February this year, he survived a ghastly motor accident. We learnt that it was a fatal motor accident, that out of the 19 occupants of the bus, 16 were burnt to death,” he added.
