THE apex Igbo Socio-Cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said it will not allow persons or groups to take undue advantage of the Igbo discipline, hospitality and decent civilization.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo said while the Igbo’s love for peace was not in doubt, the people would not fold their arms while being massacred.

The Group was reacting to the killing of scores of Igbo people in Ebonyi State by suspected herdsmen.

It described the killings as senseless and gruesome and added that the reaction of the Igbo youths was a natural reflex.

National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, who said this in a statement, noted that the Group had the responsibility of condemning violence any where in Nigeria, but warned that it would not tolerate unjust killing of the Igbo people.

He said, “The Igbo cannot fold their arms while being massacred. The Igbo love for peace is not in doubt but will not allow persons or groups to take undue advantage of the Igbo discipline, fortitude, hospitality and decent civilisation.

“I still urge the Igbo youths to beat a retreat. The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo World-Wide, Ambassador Prof. George Obiozor, is most disturbed about all these and has assured that the siege scenario in Igbo land cannot continue.”
