… Advises students to seek admission elsewhere
BY AGNES NWORIE, ABAKALIKI
A secondary school in Ebonyi State has been shut and students advised to seek admission elsewhere over allegations related to cult activities and killings.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security and Utility (Ebonyi Central), Onyekachi Nwoba, ordered the closure of the school, Kingdom Model Secondary School, Ikwuato Idembia, Ezza South Local Government Area, saying this was in a bid to end incessant cult killings in the state.
The Special Assistant, in a public service announcement, said security threat and killing in Ezza South LGA were all planned and executed at Kingdom Model Secondary School Ikwuato Idembia, hence the need for the closure.
He said, “Following the recent security threat and killing in Ezza South LGA, which were all planned and executed at KINGDOM SECONDARY SCHOOL IKWUATO IDEMBIA, the school is hereby closed down.
“Consequently, all the students in the school are advised in their own interest to vacate the premises and seek admissions in other schools. Parents are further directed to ensure full compliance to this directive as anyone found there henceforth will be arrested and prosecuted.
“Furthermore, the entire management of the school is by this notice invited for a meeting with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security and Public Utility, Ebonyi Central Zone, Hon. Onyekachi Nwoba (BONE), as scheduled below: Date: Wednesday, 9th Dec. 2020.Time: 10 am prompt. Venue: Office of Internal Security and Utility, Ebonyi Central Zone.”
However, the school’s Proprietor, Friday Agbom, reacted to the closure on his Facebook page, saying, “It has become so imperative that I speak out on the fraudulent concocted charge of cult activities against me and the indefinite sealing of my school without justification. May it interest the public to know that l have never in my life associated or belonged to any cult group or aided any person (s) to belong or participate in any criminal or cult activity(ies) in my school or in any other place.
“That Kingdom Model Secondary School was established with all necessary approvals by the Ministry of Education, WAEC and NECO Boards since 2004 and we have continued to be peaceful, keeping diligently, the instant laws, including prompt payment of revenues and other taxes to the state government.
“That Kingdom Model Secondary School has graduated a lot of (students) both in Ezza Nation and Ebonyi State at large without record(s) of any cult activity or any other crime.
“That the attack metted on me and my school is a calculated attempt to frustrate me because l refused to join APC party and further speaks out to charge our Government to listen to the (yearning) of our people. Recall that in 2015 and 2019, l paid heavily alongside other Stakeholders to ensure the victory of our dear Governor, as the PDP Chairman of Ezza South LGA both in my ward and in the Local Government.
“I was almost annihilated in the struggle but God later saw us through, hence, one of the reasons why l said l would never be part of destruction in PDP where we have all struggled to build.
“That my school is directly situated in my community and l am the Town Union President of the Community. If l were such a bad character as alleged, the community won’t have allowed me to be their president.
“That l contributed so hard for Engr. Ken. Eze to return as PDP flag bearer alongside other Stakeholders. Unfortunately, the first appreciation he is giving me is to threaten my life and seal off every sources of income available to me, simply because I have chosen a path in politics, separate from theirs. God is watching!
“It may interest the general public and security agencies to know that both my life (and the lives of my family members) have been eminently threatened by Engr. Ken. Eze, Linus EZE and their cohorts.
“That l am aware of their further plans to attack me with both their Cult boys and security agents but one thing l know is that God is not a man. My greatest worry is my innocent students who are free borns of Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large whose Careers academically (have been affected) in the name of politics, even when they are non partisan.”
