IN a new twist to reports of the alleged arrest of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, the Department of State Services has said it did not arrest the EFCC boss.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, DSS, Peter Afunaya, said the Department had been inundated with enquiries since the unconfirmed news broke.
The statement said, “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as has been reported by sections of the media.
“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”
The EFCC boss was however reportedly stopped by security operatives on superior orders and taken to the Villa for interrogation, it was learnt.
This, according to sources, was an arrest.
“They can call it whatever they like. But when an EFCC boss is stopped by security operatives in traffic and his direction changed on some superior orders, what do you call that?” a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity asked.
