After seeing the Super Eagles’ progress to the group stage of the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup qualifiers, following the 2-0 win over Swaziland, the General Secretary, Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has appealed to all stakeholders to be patient with the Sunday Oliseh-led technical crew.
The Eagles struggled to defeat Swaziland 2-0 over two legs to join 19 other countries across the African continent for the forthcoming group stage draw of the 2018 Russia FIFA World qualifiers, but the NFF scribe insists Oliseh is on course to building a better national team.
“It is not good for people to start crucifying Sunday Oliseh when the result is not forthcoming in the few games we have seen him. He already said he was rebuilding the team and if you want to start the foundation of a building, you have to start from the scratch. You don’t expect the building to be finished the same day. We can see the results of his rebuilding process. He has started getting results and we just need to be patient with him,” the NFF scribe pleaded.
Nigeria, currently ranked 59th, is expected to fall into Pot 3 of the five groups draw judging by this month’s FIFA rankings. However, it is still unknown what ranking will determine the final seeding with the next FIFA ranking expected on December 3.
