Community and Social Development Agency in Osun State has urged communities across the state to imbibe good maintenance culture and prevent several government infrastructural facilities situated in their areas from rotting away.

The agency said many government infrastructural amenities such as schools, hospitals, water among others are in bad shape due to negligence, calling on beneficiaries of these social projects to maintain them and ensure they keep serving the purpose in which they were implemented.

The Osun State General Manager of CSDA, Mrs. Funmi Abokede, gave this charge on Wednesday at a media engagement on programme for Result ( PforR) and Osun cares (DLI 1.4) programme implementation held in Osogbo.

Abokede sought the support of the media in educating residents of those communities that benefited from the projects implemented by the agency on the need to maintain the amenities and prevent them from being abandoned.

Speaking on the efforts of the state government in making life better for the residents through social amenities, Osun CSDA GM revealed that the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke has committed about N2 billion for the completion of over 267 micro projects across the state.

She noted that the fund was made available by Governor Adeleke because of his interest in the development of the state.

According to her, the projects also included facilities to alleviate the problems being faced by persons with disabilities.

She said Ademola Adeleke has continually given full support for micro projects widely spread across the state, stressing that community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus of the agency would equally focus on the provision of water, education, health care and sanitation.

Abokede emphasised that the state government had equally assisted the agency with the development of centre for people with disabilities to showcase their beliefs and abilities in different trades.

“Throughout Nigeria, Osun State is the only state that has centre for People with Disabilities. We have the centre at Edunabon while some states have visited the state to copy the ideas,” she added.

Speaking further on the micro projects across the state, she warned communities involved to put up maintenance culture and sustainability so that the projects could last long and be of benefit for them all.

However, in an effort to further grease the wheel of development in the rural areas, Abokede called on the state government to ensure more funds for the agency for more micro projects in the rural areas of the state.

She assured Governor Adeleke of the agency’s full support in an effort to bring development to the rural communities in the state.

She urged the journalists on the need to give total support for the agency by educating communities on the maintenance and sustainability of the projects executed by the agency in their various communities.

In his presentation on Program for Result (PforR), the agency’s Finance and Accounts Manager, Akinsola Ogunsakin, said PforR prioritises achieving concrete outcomes, aligning with the growing emphasis on results based development.
