THE Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has raised the alarm that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bolaji Salami, has withdrawn his police escort.
The Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tope Okeowo, in a statement on Wednesday, said the withdrawal of his boss’s escort had put his life and the lives of his family and staff in danger.
He alleged that the withdrawal of the security apparatus was designed to make the deputy governor vulnerable for what he described as the evil plan of those who orchestrated the plan.
He said, “We are not oblivious of their surreptitious move to undermine the security of the deputy governor and strip him of his security apparatus to make him vulnerable in order to carry out their evil agenda.
“President Buhari, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the Director-General of State Security Service, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, should be aware of this latest ugly development in Ondo State.”
He warned that “should anything happen to the Deputy Governor, his family and staff, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State should be held responsible.”
Police Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, Tee-Leo Ikoro, has, however, denied the allegation, saying, “That should be a rumour, the CP cannot withdraw the escort of the deputy governor. The man is still the deputy governor of this state and he has the right to have his escorts. His escorts are there intact. So there is nothing like that.”
