The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Aliyu, has charged the officers and men of the command to shun all unprofessional conducts and embrace respect for fundamental human rights in the discharge of their duties in the state.
CP Garba gave the warning in Abakaliki during a one-day sensitisation seminar for heads of police divisions, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Dept., Tactical/Operational Unit of the Command.
CP Garba in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Odah Loveth, emphasised that officers should identify critical stakeholders within their jurisdiction, cultivate good human relationships and circulate their phone numbers in their host communities to promote synergy, build trust and confidence between the Police and members of the public. He encouraged officers to randomly organise town hall meetings.
It stated, “In his determination to effectively police Ebonyi and to sustain the efforts made in decimating all criminal activities in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP ALIYU GARBA on Wednesday 11th August 2021 held a conference with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Depts., Tactical/Operational Unit of the Command.
“While, addressing officers, the CP charged them to remain steadfast, resolute and imbibe constant intelligent driven policing, intensify rigorous patrols to avert unwarranted breakdown of law and order, embark on aggressive raids of identified black spots in their AOR’s with a view to smoking out criminals in their hideouts.
“He also sent a warning note to persistent traffic violators to have a rethink as anyone found wanting would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
The CP further noted that an additional pin down point would be created between Onicha/Uburu axis to dominate and frustrate activities of criminal elements in the areas.”
The CP while commending officers on their relentless efforts in maintaining adequate security in the state assured residents of his continues commitment to the protection of their lives and properties.
