Zamfara State Taskforce on COVID-19 has faulted the new figure of the cases released by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control,  saying the 10 newly declare cases of infection “is false alarm.”

The NCDC had on Monday declared that there were 10 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Zamfara State.

Reacting to the NCDC’s announcement, Chairman of the committee, Hon. Nasiru Magarya, the body of allocating figures unilaterally.

According to him, the 10 new confirmed cases in  Zamfara State  was “a blatant liar” and wondered how NCDC arrived at having the new cases.

Magarya, who is the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, said as at Monday May 18, only two new confirmed cases were recorded.

“To put the record straight, a total of 76 cases were confirmed and already  45 poeple had been discharged with five deaths and having 28 active cases remaining,” he said.

The taskforce chairman further affirmed that out of ten cases released by the NCDC, eight had not been tested.

He wondered why a highly skilled and professional body like the NCDC would resort to telling lies to the public.

Speaker Magarya asked the NCDC to apologise to Nigerians and Zamfara State people  for the misleading information.
