The management of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has confirmed the death of a police officer, from coronavirus-related complications.
The Head, Public Relations, FMC, Segun Orisajo, who confirmed the latest COVID-19 death in a statement on Sunday, said the police officer had died at the facility on Friday. He, however, did not mention his name.
The deceased’s COVID-19 test result, according to the spokesperson, returned positive on Sunday morning.
Just on Friday night, FMC had confirmed two new cases of COVID-19, while a pregnant COVID-19 patient was also confirmed to have died at the facility before this.
On the police officer, Orisajo said, “His body is being prepared for release to his family for burial in strict compliance with World Health Organisation’s guidelines.
“All staff who came in contact with the deceased are currently on self-isolation.”
