Court remands night guard for allegedly stealing employer’s N92m property

A 35-year-old man, Omolade Adeyemi Moshood has been arrested and dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court in Osun State for allegedly stealing his employer’s property.

The state Police Command that arrested and docked the suspect explained that he allegedly stole property worth over N92 million.

Findings by The Point revealed that Moshood was employed by a woman, identified as Quadri Basirat Folashade as a night guard at a building facility used as a clinic in Osogbo.

After working for a few months, the suspect was accused of stealing hospital beds, crutches, orthopedic mattresses and other items totally estimated to be N92, 855,000:00.

When the investigation was over, Moshood was brought before Senior Magistrate A. O. Odeleye on allegations bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adejola Adesuyi, said the night guard conspired with others now at large to cart away the medical items around February 18, 2025 at Dele Yes Sir area of Osogbo.

The two count-charge preferred against him read, “That you Omolade Adeyemi Moshood and others now at large, on or about the 18th day of February 2025 at Dele-Yes-Sir area, Osogbo, Osun State, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: Stealing, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“That you Omolade Adeyemi Moshood and others now at large, on the same day, time, place and in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did steal fibre pillows, bunk bed, orthopedic mattress, wheelchair, curtain rods, bag of cements, halogen lights, crutches, hospital beds, all valued Ninety Two Million, Eight Hundred Eighty Five Thousand Naira (#92,855,000:00k) property of Quadri Basirat Folashade and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

The accused person entered into a not guilty plea to the allegations. There was no legal representation for him.

Magistrate Odeleye adjourned the matter for hearing till April 17 and ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre.
