Court remands man for stealing money

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered a 33-year-old man, Adewuyi Mustapha, to be remanded in custody for allegedly obtaining the sum of N340, 000, 00 from an unsuspecting member of the public.

Mustapha, according to the police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, fraudulently obtained the said sum from one Bukola Atobatele at Oke-Fia area of Osogbo.

The charge reads that “Adewuyi Mustapha, in the month of November, at Oke-Fia area, Osogbo, did fraudulently and unlawfully obtain the sum of N340, 000, 00 from one Bukola Atobatele.

The said offence contravened sections 419 and 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person, who was in court without legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the two count-charge of fraud and stealing.

Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered that Mustapha be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre till January 14, 2022 when the matter would come up for hearing.
