A Kano State High Court, sitting in Kano, has convicted a businessman, Ibrahim Abdulrazak, to a four-year jail term for criminal intimidation and cheating.

The prosecutor from the Kano State Ministry of Justice, Bashir Saleh, informed the court that the convict had obtained the sum of N90m from a man, simply identified as Sumaila, sometime in 2014.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant collected the money with the assurance that he would heal the complainant’s son who is bedridden.

However, the defendant denied the allegations that were levelled against him.

The presiding judge, Suleiman Na Malla, stated that the prosecution had proved his case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court, in a five-hour judgment, sentenced Abdulazeez to a two-year jail term on each count charge, without an option of fine.
