A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, has confiscated about five cars belonging to immediate past and present Chief Medical Directors of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki.

The court execution carried out on March 12, 2025 amidst tight security was in accordance with the judgement delivered by a Federal High Court presided over by justice M. L. Abubakar in December 2016 against AEFUTHA, Onwe Ogah (then CMD), Robinson Onoh (then CMAC) and Eze Anosike (consultant/surgeon who operated on the complainant) as the 1st to 4th defendants.

In the suit marked FHC/ AI/CS/23/2016, one Uwakwe Inya who was a patient to the defendants alleged that his treatment was abruptly stopped by the defendants and requested for release of a copy of his folder which contains his medical history to enable him continue treatment elsewhere, but was turned down, hence, the suit to seek redress.

The court in the said judgement granted all reliefs sought which include order that the hospital should pay the complainant, Uwakwe Inya, N32 million as damages and cost of litigation.

The Point gathered that the said judgement delivered in December 2016 was not executed till early hours of March 12, 2025 when the execution team stormed the residence of the 2nd and 3rd defendants and forcefully confiscated about five cars, which may be sold to realise the compensation of N32 million if negotiations fail.
Efforts to reach the incumbent Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Robinson Onoh, for comments were not successful at the time of this report.
