There was confusion at Ilesa Garage area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital following the discovery of the lifeless body of a father of two simply identified as Engineer Ibironke at the back of his house.

An account stated that there were indications that Ibironke, who had been declared missing for 10 days, committed suicide as a noose was found inside the uncompleted building where his corpse was found.

Other reports had it that the deceased disappeared shortly after receiving a telephone call.

His neighbours claimed that the telephone repairer, popularly called ‘Engineer’ in his neighbourhood, was indebted to the tune of N50, 000.

The deceased was said to have left a message for his wife to inform her to take care of their kids after his death. He was alleged to have stated in the suicide note that he was tired of their marriage.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, Olabisi Atanda, confirmed the incident, saying that the body was found in an uncompleted building beside the deceased’s house.

Atanda said, “We received a distress call about the suicide case around Ilesa Garage, Osogbo. I spoke with the father of the deceased. He noted that the corpse might have been there since about 10 days. The father said that he had been missing since 10 days ago and that they had reported to the police.

“He said that the authority gave them 15 days, asked for his picture but nothing happened. He said that he got a call that his son was found at the back of his house, dead, with a rope as if he killed himself.

“The wife of the deceased told them (family members) that they went to church on Sunday together, and when they were in church, he (Ibironke) received some strange calls and deleted the numbers on his phone. Since Sunday, they didn’t know his whereabouts until they found his dead body. He was married with two kids. He and his wife stay in a room apartment besides the uncompleted building (where his body was found).”

The NSCDC PRO disclosed that the family of the deceased reported that he was missing at a police station at Oke-Baale area of Osogbo.

She added, “I spoke with the brother of the deceased and he said that he was involved in drugs like marijuana and alcohol and some other things. I asked about other occupants of the building, they said that they don’t live in the building. People only come around to cut the weeds around the house. I think that they got to know of the corpse when it started smelling.”

One of his landlord’s sons, Olayinka Waliyu, described the deceased as an easygoing person, but stated that he noticed changes in his look shortly before his disappearance from home.

“I was informed that they couldn’t find an Engineer. I asked what happened and they said that since last Sunday, (February 27), around 3pm, had been missing. I was told that he left a text on the phone that “he is no longer interested in marrying his wife and that the wife should take care of his kids. He said he had gone.

“We even thought maybe he was running away to avoid his responsibilities or as a result of his debts. We assumed that he had traveled to another town, we never knew that his lifeless body was within the vicinity,” Waliyu disclosed.

It was gathered that the body of the deceased had been l evacuated for burial.
