There was shock across four villages in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday afternoon as gunmen suspected to be bandits killed some residents.
The men of the underworld were also said to have razed down many houses in the communities.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the attackers shot sporadically and set several properties on fire.
A resident, Danladi Dukup, said that some people lost their lives while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Dukup said that some of the villagers fled their homes for safety during the invasion.
Maj. Ishaku Takwa, Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven, a military task force maintaining peace in Plateau and environs, confirmed the attack to journalists on Sunday in Jos.
Although Takwa didn’t confirm the number of casualties in the attack, he said that troops of the task force were deployed to the area to restore normalcy.
The attack came barely 24 hours after the abduction of the wife and the daughter of the Commissioner for Environment in the state.
