As the call for restructuring of the country gathers momentum, The Minister of Communications, Mr.  Adebayo Shittu, and daughter of the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, have disagreed on the national issue.

While Shittu queried the timing of the demand for restructuring, Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the Iyaloja General of traders, argued that the only way out of the myriad of agitations for the exercise was for the authorities to accede to
the request.

The minister and Tinubu-Ojo spoke in Iwo, Osun State, on the sidelines of the 50th birthday ceremony of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi.

Shittu queried why the proponents of restructuring did not advance their demand during the 16-year tenure of the former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

He rather suggested the strengthening of the local government councils to truly serve the rural dwellers, whom he said were often neglected by the two other tiers of government.

According to him, when local government is given autonomy, the agitations by those calling for restructuring of the country would have been substantially addressed.

But Tinubu-Ojo insisted that the country should be restructured for effective governance to be
possible.

She noted that the country as structured presently gives room for ineffective resource management, calling for support of every Nigerian for the efforts to ensure that the country is properly structured.

Speaking at the event, Oba Akanbi assured his subjects to continue to work towards making life more bearable for them.
