The Provost of the School of Health Sciences and Administration Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State, Dr. Canice Duru, has advised students to shun cultism.
The provost, while addressing newly matriculated students of the institution, said that the school would not condone any act of cultism or other social vices capable of truncating the peace and harmony of the school.
Duru described cultism as destructive to life.
According to him, “This is an ill-wind that blows no one any good in our society today and I will not spare or let go of any person or group of persons indulging in cultism in order to spill blood and destroy our future.
“I must let us know that cultism is bad in a growing economy like Nigeria.”
He warned parents to watch and guard their children after school hours, especially during holidays.
“it is better you focus on your academic work, remain in your classes, attend lectures and read your books to become useful to the society and especially your various families, who are the bed rock of your success”.
Duru appealed to the state government to take the infrastructural development of the institution seriously and improve its environment for conducive learning.
He decried the poor road network and the dilapidated students’ hostels and libraries, adding that more science and administration courses had been accredited at the institution.
