Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ogun State have arrested a 24-year-old man, Ibrahim Muhammed for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Abeokuta.
The suspect was found in possession of the stolen Bajaj motorcycle with registration number TG 2744 QA, around Ake, Abeokuta.
According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kareem Olanrewaju, the suspect was arrested by Civil Defence operatives in the area while he was trying to sell the stolen motorcycle.
When interrogated, the suspect could not explain how he got the motorcycle.
One Shodipe Jimoh, who had wanted to buy the stolen motorcycle from the suspect, said he offered Muhammed N30,000 but he insisted on selling it for N70,000.
Jimoh, who then became suspicious, was said to have quickly alerted the Civil Defence operatives who were patrolling the locations of critical infrastructure in the area, on the development.
The NSCDC operatives then arrested the suspect.
The corps public relations officer added that the state Commandant, Aboluwoye Akinwande had directed that the suspect and the exhibit be transferred to the appropriate quarters after the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
He also said that the commandant had mandated all the operatives on surveillance patrol to “always be very vigilant and pay attention to the activities going on within their beats.”
