I n spite of the crisis rocking his marriage to Tonto Dikeh, Oladunni Churchill, has decided to focus on other things. Through his foundation, Big Church Foundation, he has continued to touch lives. Last weekend, the indigenes of Southern Kaduna, who have allegedly been at the mercy of Fulani herdsmen for years, became the latest set of people to benefit from the Foundation.

As part of his Foundation’s activities, he has also concluded plans to release a movie, ‘Kada River,’ to tell the stories of the killings and terrors in Southern Kaduna.

According to Churchill, the movie, which will be released in cinemas in July, is a touching one that can make people shed tears.

Churchill, who just returned from a tour of the Southern Kaduna, said he was moved when he heard their stories and had to make a pledge to help the people.

He said, “We went to Kafanchan and we decided to give relief materials and food to people in the community. We were there for close to three weeks. We interacted with people there and they told us all they’ve been facing.”

“I tried to encourage the youth because most of the Fulani herdsmen are youths. We were told that they feed their cows with their plants and farming is their only source of livelihood. If they try to stop them, they attack them with sophisticated weapons,” Churchill said.

He, however, stated that the crisis in his marriage had nothing to do with his desire to help people in the society. He claimed he had been doing this since he was a little boy.

He said, “I am passionate about this and I am aware that God’s blessing comes from humanitarian services. My marriage is different from my calling. I have been doing this for a long time, even before I met my wife. I was raised by my grandmother and she was a cheerful giver. She looked out for church members, children and neighbours. She was everybody’s mom.

“We use 10 per cent of our income as a company to run Big Church Foundation. While we are focusing on Southern Kaduna now, the next focus could be Lions club because I am also a member. The people of Southern Kaduna need help; they need quality education, security and shelter because their houses were burnt down. They need other means of livelihood. Their major means of livelihood is farming and it has been taken from them. Big Church Foundation will do everything within its power to help.”
