The Campaign Against Impunity and Domestic Violence has called on the Akwa Ibom state government to ensure those handling the construction of the Reigners’ Bible Church’s building in the state capital.

The group claimed that the contractor should be made to face the full wrath of the law, a development that is expected to serve as deterrent to others, who neglect safety measure while embarking on such massive project all over the country.

The Executive Director of CAIDOV, Mr. Gbenga Soloki, alleged that most of those involved in the project are opportunists, who maximised their profits at the detriment of the occupiers.
“In order to prevent re-occurrence, we recommend the prosecution of the handlers of the project by the state government so that it will serve as deterrent to other unscrupulous elements in the building profession.

“The loss of over two hundred people in a day due to the negligence of some people deserves punishment and we urge the state government to ensure strict compliance with safety laws in the state,” he stated.
Finally, CAIDOV however, commiserate with the families of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
