THE Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, seems to have found himself in a fresh crisis in his new party, the Peoples Democratic Party, as the primary election turned chaotic on Wednesday.
In spite of a peace meeting called by the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, before the primary poll, happenings around the primary election on Wednesday may mark the beginning of another post-primary crisis in the opposition party.
It was alleged that some supporters of one of the aspirants, Eyitayo Jegede, had discovered some thumb-printed ballot papers with specimen boldly on them in the house of one of Ajayi’s supporters.
A mob reportedly invaded the house of the deputy governor’s supporters, claiming that there had been thumb printing of ballot papers before the poll, and that this would be used to rig the election.
An unidentified politician was seen at the entrance of the venue with an injured, bloody hand.
Security officers tried as much as possible to arrest the situation.
In a video that is currently circulating, protesters, who appear to be Jegede’s loyalists, were heard saying that the deputy governor would not be allowed to scatter PDP.
However, some observers have said that Ajayi’s detractors in the ruling party might be behind the protests.
