As the Home Eagles continue preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda, assistant coach of the side, Salisu Yusuf, is excited with the fitness level displayed by invited players.
Speaking moments after the team’s third training session in their Abuja camp, Yusuf, who is standing in for head coach, Sunday Oliseh, stressed that the fitness programme put in place by the technical crew had helped the players shake off any rustiness from the long break at the end of the 2014/15 league campaign.
“For the players that reported to camp, their fitness level is impressive, which only tells me they were religious with the programme we gave each one. I can only assume with this level of focus the players have shown, we can be hopeful of a good outing at the CHAN,” Salisu, who insisted that the main objective of the team was to excel during the biennial championship, said.
The 2016 CHAN will run from January 16 to February 7, 2016 in Rwanda.
