CGIS decorates newly promoted ACGs, CIS

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service and Chairperson of the ECOWAS Heads of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has decorated 15 Assistant Comptrollers General and 95 Comptrollers of Immigration Service at the Service Headquarters.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Tyoapine Udo, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the CGIS eulogised the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, for the massive promotions, which is unprecedented in the history of the Service.

She pointed out that these promotions signify the end of stagnation, and the dawn of a new era of smooth career progression and institutional growth in the Service.

She disclosed that a total of 13,977 Officers were promoted; 6697 were within the ranks of Assistant Superintendents of Immigration (ASI) while 7280 were from the ranks of Immigration Assistants (IAs) Inspectors of Immigration (II) and five officers were specially promoted for their exceptional roles in moving the Service forward.

She congratulated them noting that their elevations were rewards for dedication to duty, and reflects the NIS firm commitment to the welfare, capacity building and career development for officers.

In his remarks, the CDCFIB Secretary appreciated the Minister and the Comptroller General for their roles in the phenomenal promotion exercise, and further charged all promoted officers to discharge their duties in line with best practices.

The CGIS expressed unwavering determination to reposition the Service.

Therefore, she tasked officers and men to exhibit a high level of dedication, integrity and professionalism towards overcoming emerging challenges associated with its core mandates of Border Security and Migration Management.
