Residents of Osun State who are members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress on Monday trooped out in jubilation over the inauguration of Bola Tinubu as the 16th President of Nigeria.
The politicians and their loyalists gathered across the nine federal constituencies in the state and simultaneously celebrated as President Tinubu was inaugurated alongside the Vice President, Kashim Shettima at the Eagles Square in Abuja.
Adorned in Ankara fabrics branded with the picture of Tinubu and the logo of the APC, the joyous members of the party sang victory songs vigorously while others dined and wined.
At the Osun APC secretariat in Osogbo, members of the party were thrown into musical frenzy by a live band.
Speaking on the essence of the celebration, Aremo Adelabu, a chieftain of the party and immediate past Special Adviser on Youth and Sports in Osun State to immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, assured Nigerians of tremendous achievements during Tinubu’s administration, saying that this is the time a core progressive would taste presidency.
Adelabu said, “We are celebrating the emergence of core progressives. If you will agree with me, this is the first time a core progressive will be the President of this country, so, it calls for celebration. So, we the progressives are celebrating the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of Nigeria.
“Nobody can doubt the capacity and capability of Asiwaju when it comes to development. We have all seen what he has been able to achieve in Lagos State. He touched all the aspects of development in Lagos State. Is it security, education, health? Just name it. We have no doubt that he is going t replicate what he has done in Lagos State at the federal level.”
On what Nigerians should expect from Tinubu’s government, he said, “What I want to tell the people is that they should be rest assured because we now have progressive government in Nigeria and everything will be on ground for development.”
“The event is going on simultaneously in Osun State. Let me appreciate the immediate past governor of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola for giving those of us who were not able to be in Abuja the opportunity to celebrate. As we are doing it in Osogbo, we are doing it simultaneously in the eight other federal constituencies. They did it in Ede, Iwo, Ikire, Ife, Ilesa, Ijebu-Jesa and Ila,” Adelabu explained.
