THE Central Bank of Nigeria plans to sell N722 billion Treasury Bills in the third quarter of 2021.
This was disclosed in the CBN’s Nigeria Treasury Bills Issue Programme for the third quarter of 2021, released at the weekend.
The TBs will be issued in tranches. The first tranche will be rolled out on June 3, 2021, while the last tranche is scheduled for August 28, 2021, according to the apex bank.
Treasury Bills are short-term debt instruments used by the apex bank to borrow money on behalf of the Federal Government from the public.
The CBN said it would issue N41.35 billion TBs with 91 days tenor, N151.13 billion, 182 days; and N529.68 billion, 364 days.
In June, the apex bank plans to sell N106.1 billion TBs, comprising N7.26 billion 91 days bills, N9.52 billion 182 days bills, and N89.32 billion 364 days bills.
In July, CBN targets sale of N407.34 billion TBs, comprising N22.53 billion 91 days bills, N92.84 billion 182 days bills and N291.97 billion 364 days bills.
In August, CBN plans to sell N208.68 billion TBs, comprising N11.55 billion 91 days bills, N48.76 billion 182 days bills and N148.37 billion 364 days bills.
