A 30-year-old car dealer, Abayomi Fehintola, has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo for allegedly stealing the sum of N2 million from his client, Seun Adeyinka.
The police in Osun State dragged Fehintola to court, accusing him of collecting the sum from Adeyinka with a promise to get him a Nissan Alteon car, which he failed to fulfil.
According to the police prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi, the accused person committed the offence on April 24, at the Ofatedo area of Osogbo.
Ajayi said the accused lied to his client that he would buy him the car, arguing that Fehintola committed theft of N2 million since he failed to return the money.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, was contrary to Sections 383 and 419 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Voll.1, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2003.
Fehintola entered into a not guilty plea and his counsel, Bose Dada, made an oral bail application for the accused, praying the court to make the conditions liberal.
Magistrate Fatimah Sodamade granted  the accused person  bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Sodamade ruled that the surety should present three passport photographs to the court while the prosecutor should confirm the surety’s address.
The matter was adjourned till September 14 for hearing.
