A forty two-year old man, Aminu Umar, has allegedly raped two underage siblings in Lagos.
The suspect and victims’ parents reside at number 5, Salako Street in the Oko Oba area of Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered that Umar, a butcher from Kano State, had repeatedly been having carnal knowledge of the two sisters (names withheld) in his apartment.
He was said to have been luring the victims, who are seven and four year s old with Bobo drinks.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspect, however, was exposed when the victims’ mother (names withheld) got to know about the incident while she was bathing the seven-year-old, who is the elder of the two sisters.
It was gathered that the seven-year-old, who started having pains and discharges from her private part, disclosed to her mother that Umar (the suspect), as he was being called by the girls, usually “put them on his bed after removing their clothes and pants.”
The victims’ mother immediately raised the alarm, saying that her children’s vaginas were “decaying and some substance had been discharging from their private parts” since the incident happened.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspect usually returned home early after he must have finished slaughtering cows at the abattoir.
While at home, he would lure the victims into his apartment with Bobo drinks, when their parents had gone to work and would later rape them.
He is said to have a wife, who comes around occasional.
“This has been going on without the victims informing their parents until the recent assault on the victims,” a police source told our correspondent.
The police officer, who did not want his name mentioned, further said, “He used to sleep with the kids whenever he comes back from abattoir in the morning. When the victims’ parents must have gone to work, he would lure them into his apartment with Bobo drinks and defile them.
“Their mother raised the alarm, which drew the attention of neighbours. The matter was reported at the station and the suspect was arrested.
“We invited the elder sister, who is seven years old, and asked her what the suspect had done to her and her younger sister. The girl said, ‘Uncle Umar lured us into his room and gave us Bobo. After that, he removed his clothes, our pants and clothes, too, and carried us to his bed, where he would put his thing into us.”
Our correspondent gathered that when the victims’ mother examined their private parts, there were bruises showing evidence of forcible penetration.
The officer said the suspect had been charged to court, adding that although he had denied the allegation.
It was learnt that the test conducted on the victims showed that they were sexually abused.
A resident of the area, who spoke to our correspondent, Mike Akinlabi, said, “When the mother of the girls came out shouting that her neighbour raped her daughter, some of us didn’t take her seriously.
“But she kept crying; so we asked her to report the matter to the police because she did not catch the man pants down. So, nobody can actually say whether it is true or not. But the test result that was conducted on the girls showed they were raped.
“The police have arrested the suspect and I learnt he has been taken to court.”
When our correspondent contacted the victims’ mother, she said, “I was bathing my girl that morning when she suddenly showed some discomfort as I was about to wash her private part. I asked her what the matter was and she told me that her vagina was paining her. I asked why and she said Uncle Umar, our neighbour, had been sleeping with her and her younger sister. I was shocked and I couldn’t believe my ears.
“She explained to me that Umar used to lure them into his room and give them Bobo. Thereafter, he would remove his clothes, their own pants and clothes and carry them to his bed, where he would now
rape them.
“Till now I still didn’t get myself; it’s their father that is strengthening me. They are my only children and this man wanted to kill them for me. God will punish
him.”
