President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the people of Kogi State to “join the wind of change” by voting en masse for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Abubakar Audu.

The call was made at the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign rally at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium in Lokoja. The President was represented by Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo, a situation which the opposition Peoples Democratic Party described as a sign of rejection of Audu by the Presidency.

Earlier, however, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, had officially received some officials of the PDP, who defected to the APC at the rally. These include 15 elected council chairmen, some senior special advisers and special advisers who dumped the PDP. Oyegun, who welcomed the defectors to the APC, assured them of equal opportunity in the APC, and appealed to them to work for the victory of the APC in the state’s governorship election.

The APC chieftain said it was the collective responsibility of all electorate to vote for change in the interest of Kogi State, noting that the APC candidate was still the best option at this critical moment in the state. He noted that Audu had a record of development, stressing that he had done it before and would do it again.

Audu also called on the people to vote en masse for him to rescue the state from bad governance. He added that, since he left office in 2003, development had eluded Kogi State, noting that a vote for APC was a vote for progress and development of the state.
